WIEDP Announces Informational Event on Government Contracting The Western Illinois Economic Development Partnership would like to announce an opportunity for small business owners in the area to learn how to get registered and certify for government contracting opportunities. Free Webcast Could Help Local Businesses Save Energy and Money Western Illinois Economic Development Partnership (WIEDP) is notifying small businesses in the area of a free webcast to be held January 18 that could help them reduce their energy costs. The webcast is a service of the Small Business Smart Energy Program (SB$E), which is directed by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and supported by the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC). read more

Monmouth Recognized as a Historic District Thanks to the efforts of WIEDP’s Community Projects Coordinator Linda Lee Blaine, Monmouth’s downtown has become a nationally recognized historic district. The Western Illinois Economic Development Partnership (WIEDP) nominated the downtown district to promote redevelopment. Blaine compiled the data for the application, which involved extensive research of historical archives and creating a historic profile for each building in the district. read more

Site Selector, Robert Ady, Visits Monmouth Robert Ady, a renowned expert on economic development issues and international site selection consultant on such projects as Boeings relocation to Chicago and Bloomington-Normal’s attraction of Mitsubishi Auto plant, was recently in Monmouth to review the community and WIEDP’s economic development efforts. Overall, he had very positive feedback along with some valuable insights. read more
