Parks and Recreation

Monmouth features seven neighborhood parks in addition to Citizens Lake and Monmouth Park. Citizens Lake offers fishing, boating, swimming, winter sports, overnight camping, and picnic areas.

Monmouth Park is located on North 11th Street. Its 200-acre facility features five shelter houses, three restroom buildings, one baseball diamond and concession stand, six tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a basketball court, playground equipment, forest trails and the Myron Mikita Outdoor Theatre.

Gibson Woods Golf Course is a public course located in Monmouth Park. The 130-acre facility opened in 1966 and features an 18 hole par 71 course, a practice putting green and driving range, and a snack bar that is open to the public. A course golf professional and pro shop manager is on staff.

YMCA. The Warren County YMCA located in Monmouth features a cardiovascular fitness center, aerobics classes, swimming lessons, CPR classes to name a few. A full range of physical and social activities for youth and adults is offered.

Lake Warren, a private lake that covers approx. 51 acres and includes three miles of shoreline beach. Its resort-like atmosphere has sites for summer and year-round homes with swimming, fishing, boating, camping and skiing for the entire family.

Additional recreational opportunities are available, such as Monmouth Country Club, bowling lanes, roller skating, and water sports on the Mississippi River
