Higher Education:

Carl Sandburg College, located near Galesburg, is a junior college which offers associates degrees in arts, science, general education and applied science. Home to the Center for Manufacturing Excellence, a 30,000 sq. ft. facility housing short-term and long-term industrial training programs and a manufacturing incubator.

Monmouth College, founded in 1853 by Scottish Presbyterians, is a four-year undergraduate, private, liberal arts college.

Knox College, Galesburg, was founded in 1837. Knox is a nationally ranked, private, residential liberal arts college.

University of Illinois Extension provides practical, unbiased, research-based information and programs to help individuals, farms, businesses, and communities in Henderson, Mercer, and Warren Counties to put knowledge to work. This is accomplished by educators and unit staff who provide training and expertise in four broad program areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources, 4-H/Youth Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Community and Economic Development.

Western Illinois University, located in Macomb (30 minutes south of Monmouth) has an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. Forty-nine undergraduate programs, 35 graduate degree programs and 13 pre-professional programs are offered at the Macomb campus and its Quad Cities satellite campus.
